Functional MRI

Functional MRI has been used extensively to localize eloquent cortex.  In most studies there is excellent concordance with intraoperative electrocorticography in defining regions necessary for language and motor function.  Areas of eloquent cortex defined by fMRI may then be used as seed voxels for DTI fiber tracking.

We routinely perform fMRI as part of preoperative planning for both oncologic and epilepsy surgery.

STEALTH compatible images are provided for intraoperative use.
